Hi, I’m Jodi Herndon, founder of Herndon’s Hope & Healing.

Life changes can be scary and unsettling. As a Counselor with over 12 years of experience serving people trying to change and improve their lives, I am passionate about creating a safe space for you to share your concerns, fears, and challenges. You will find care, compassion, and a non-judgmental response that will validate your experience, while empowering you to improve your life. This is what I offer to everyone who I work with.

You’re not alone on this journey.

My practice provides in-person and online therapy with a focus in addictions and anxiety and depression, while I have a specialty certification in trauma work.

I began my clinical journey working with children and adolescents with mental and emotional disabilities. After 5 years of helping children learn behavior modification techniques and teaching parents methods for coping and improving communication, I decided to serve another population. I focused my professional development on working with those struggling with substance use disorders. I became a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor. I specialized in pregnant women with addiction, educating both them and the community on ways to improve the health of substance exposed infants while addressing the battles of addiction. I participated in the Plans of Safe Care Collaborative to improve coordination of care between mental health providers, the department of social services and other local community organizations.

After obtaining my license as a professional counselor I went on to become the Regional Director of two medication assisted treatment programs in Virginia. I now serve as the Vice President of the Virginia Association of Medication Assisted Recovery Programs. My personal goal is to help de-stigmatize addiction. I am also a part of the Central Virginia Clinicians of Color Network and a movement towards providing improved culturally competent clinical services.

My counseling style is warm, down to earth, and interactive. I use a variety of therapy modalities that include person centered therapy, motivational therapy, psychodynamic therapy, solution focused and cognitive behavioral therapy. I serve children and adolescents as well as adults.

Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions and/or are interested in scheduling an appointment.

I look forward to working with you!
